My name’s Kelly—a firefighter, first responder, and the founder of The Salty Broad.
Being part of this world has introduced me to some pretty incredible people—especially women who have spent years showing up, doing the job, and earning their place in the fire service.
Somewhere along the way, I started noticing something didn’t quite add up. There was no shortage of fire service apparel, but very little of it actually represented the women I knew, worked alongside, and hoped to become one day.
And that stuck with me.
These were women who had built entire careers in the fire service and EMS, yet when I looked at the artwork, apparel, and culture surrounding the fire service, I rarely saw women like them represented.
That’s where the idea for The Salty Broad began.
I wanted to create something that put those women in the picture—not as a novelty or an afterthought, but exactly as I know them: first responders doing the job.
So I built what I felt was missing.
The Salty Broad comes straight from the firehouse—the chaos, the camaraderie, the dark humor, the traditions, and that unmistakable get-it-done mentality. Women show up front and center in our artwork because that representation is at the heart of why this brand exists. They’ve always belonged in the picture.
But don’t get it twisted—The Salty Broad isn’t just for women.
Our designs may be inspired by her, but they’re made for everyone who lives, loves, or supports this life. Firefighters. EMS. First responders. Fire families. Supporters. Whoever you are—if it speaks to you, wear it.
Every design starts with something rooted in the culture, humor, traditions, or experiences of the fire service. And as The Salty Broad grows, you can expect original releases, specialty collections, and plenty more Salty Broad attitude along the way.
This brand started with a simple idea:
Make room in the picture for the women who were already there.
And we’re just getting warmed up.
